TheMotto No. 61 has me saying, Damnit! DJ Drama, Don Cannon and Leighton “Lakeshow” Morrison were right. B.Dot was more receptive than me — but I repeatedly turned Harlow down for a Rap Radar podcast. (Jason Davis, what up?) SMH. I get a lot of stuff right — this I got wrong.
The curly-haired caucasian MC from Louisville, Kentucky? Jack Harlow is dumb nice. He actually proved it with Flex last March ⤵️
And a hit is a hit. You usually know it the first time you hear it. And, be clear, “What’s Poppin” went platinum in May — before the big remix. Harlow’s heartfelt and humorous lyrics levitate over producer Jetsonmade’s piano chords ⏬
The video for the “What’s Poppin Remix” with Lil Wayne, Tory Lanez and DaBaby was recently filmed in Miami, and Jack looks ready to drop the star-studded visual soon— and reach that number one spot. We gon’ see! Good luck, Generation Now.

watch out, now:
speaking of JT and Yung Miami, they aren’t letting up: guest Doja Cat adds sexy touches to the provocative “Pussy Talk.” The song’s radio edit should be interesting ⏬
over the weekend, in observance of the one-year anniversary of Revenge Of The Dreamers III (Dreamville/Interscope), Dreamville released footage of the recording sessions. The highlight is J. Cole’s off-the-head freestyle — he’s holding a plate of food in one hand. All these rap niggas my sons | And I get mad cause they trash | So I’m turning into Brenda here 🎤⏬
Belcalis Almanzar has joined TikTok. A whole lot of her husband Offset in her first presentation ⤵️

turn it up:
one week after the release of Pop Smoke’s Shoot For the Stars Aim For the Moon, another posthumous hip hop release is due this Friday from Juice WRLD. Legends Never Die’s lead single, “Life’s A Mess” will quickly remind you how talented the late Chicago artist was.
what more can I say:
Yesterday, Q-Tip reminded me just how dope Scarface’s 2002 “Someday” is. This timeless song is a testament to faith — featuring Faith Evans — and comforts me on my most challenging days. I had the honor of putting Scarface on the cover of XXL in 2002. Former Def Jam President Kevin Liles played me an early version of The Fix, I knew it was an instant classic. On June 11, Brad “Scarface” Jordan announced he was recovering from COVID-19. He says he was diagnosed in March. I’m wishing him strength and good health. Also, if you want to know the real story of Scarface, check out Diary of A Madman, which is co-written by my guy Benjamin Meadows-Ingram.
