Back in 2009, I was overwhelmed with emotion over the passing of Michael Jackson. I was compelled to comb through my CDs and search thru my many MP3s to put together a collection of my personal favorite songs from the King. YN’s MJ Music was seven volumes of greatness and was a big hit on the Rap Radar website.

Today, in 2020, Michael Jackson’s complicated legacy is deeply tarnished. It’s difficult to know at times how or if to celebrate his life’s work. But I decided to commemorate what would have been MJ’s 62nd birthday with a playlist that goes from Jackson’s early Jackson 5 days, to his underrated Jacksons era, and through his game-changing solo career. There are worldwide smashes, amazing rarities, and deep album cuts — no one in music has a better catalogue than Jackson. Listen here.
