Rap Radar Podcast goes viral
let's talk about the triumphant return of the most trusted space in hip-hop
yo. it’s been a long two years. But Brian “B.Dot” Miller and I are back with the Rap Radar Podcast. And we’re off to a great start. Talk about a renaissance! Most important, we’re now available across all streaming platforms. WE ARE OUTSIDE.
B-Dot and I are grateful to CBS Radio for giving us our start. And the diamond platform that is TIDAL continues to lift Rap Radar up in the podcast universe: we are deeply grateful. There are no words to express my gratitude for Paul Rosenberg. There are no words to express my gratitude for Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter. They both inspire me, and they both partner with me creatively. I’m blessed.
our new partners at Interval Presents are amazing too, and we jumped off this new era of Rap Radar Podcast in a major way. After our first episode, featuring two-thirds of the Migos — more on Quavo and Takeoff below — me and B went viral with the legends Snoop Dogg and Jamie Foxx. The topic on deck was around their new Netflix project, Dayshift, but Foxx couldn’t help but showcase his perfect impersonation of our former President. In real time, at The London hotel in West Hollywood, we knew the bit was hilarious. But we couldn’t know how well the world would receive it.
the clip I shared first on Twitter is currently close to two million views. We trended, and the episode was featured at CNN, People, Vanity Fair, Yahoo, Entertainment Weekly, The Joe Rogan Experience, and more. What’s wild too is that this, our “second” episode, is actually our 193rd. Rap Radar Podcast launched August 2015 with YG, and with Dreamville’s Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad. Brian and I are proud of our history while knowing we are just getting started.
in case you missed it, our new journey began on August 18 on with our exclusive sit-down with Quavo and Takeoff. Time will tell if this is the end of hip-hop’s last great group, but it’s clear that Huncho and The Rocket are focused solely on their upcoming Unc + Phew project. They just dropped a new single/video below featuring Cash Money CEO, Bryan Williams. I love that Baby is calling himself Beatrice again. Ha!
this Thursday September 1, the third episode of the Rap Radar Podcast drops — and it’s big. We visited DJ Khaled at his serene Miami home to listen to his thirteenth studio album, God Did.
After the interview, we switched from spritzers to sipping tequila, and had a delicious feast (tomahawk steaks, asparagus, lotsa caviar, some lobster fritters, and passionfruit sorbet for dessert) prepared by Khaled’s personal cuisine queen, Chef Melissa. Still we think our conversation is what you’ll find most filling. Check out this kick-ass trailer created by my MIA connect Shula.
we’ve also teased other upcoming eps:
